Identify what is included

Read the description for the shell, liner and any other components. Photos can show a liner without promising it is included, and a compatible-looking liner may not be the correct size. Ask for confirmation of the exact bundle you will receive.

Inspect high-wear details

Request clear photographs of cuffs, pocket corners, elbows, collar, zipper and snaps. Look inside as well as outside. Frayed edges, torn lining and corrosion on hardware matter even when a jacket has appealing surface wear. Check whether repairs are described and shown.

Decide between clothing and collecting

If you want an everyday layer, prioritize fit and working closures. If you are paying for a particular period or maker, seek readable label photographs and an appropriate reference. This checklist cannot authenticate an individual jacket; seller descriptions should be checked against the actual object.

Compare measured fit

Ask for chest, shoulders, sleeves and back length with the shell laid flat. Compare those numbers to a jacket you wear over similar layers. Check whether the seller is offering the pictured example or selecting from a stock batch. A stock photo leaves more uncertainty about wear and measurements.
